Move from mainpage to User:Deacosta | Last Edit | mature artist page | MONOSKOP

Revision as of 21:06, 10 July 2026 by Deacosta (talk | contribs) As published in Monoskop By the time of my last edit in the span of 14 years, the page was mature, well edited and had everything an artist page should have. Reactivated only when the exhibit Elements of Experience happened to reflect current and pass work more diligently, it was moved from mainpage to user:deacosta - as Monoskop policies on editing pages have changed over the years. Pictures were removed and paged moved to sandbox. Where it remains alive but obscured. A definitive loss for Monoskop. .............. Alexander Acosta Osorio Artist born in Bogotá, Colombia. Alexander is a visual artist who works primarily with digital multimedia in the forms of digital photography, video, interventions, online publications and exhibitions. Alexander graduated in Journalism and Mass Communication from the American University in Bulgaria and Fine Arts from LaGuardia Community College at The City University of New York. He collaborated with the educational programs at the Museum of Modern Art, The Guggenheim Museum, becoming an intern at PS1 MoMA Contemporary Art Center and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. After working with these art institutions Alexander had further apprenticeship training at Katharina Rich Perlow Gallery and Thomas & Associates, where he supported several art shows and did installation work for several high-end exhibitors such as PHILLIPS auction house, The Armory Show New York, Ana Tzarev Gallery, Art Basel New York, and Frith Street Gallery. For Alexander learning means doing. 2003 - 2009 New York City | Alexander was exposed to a wealth of art influences from some of the most recognized artists of our time that helped him develop a range of work that led to his current focus on photography. In his images Alexander explores the relationships of his subjects with their immediate surroundings. He is interested in how these relationships change the way we perceive ourselves and how they change the way we look at things. 2009 - Present Bulgaria | Alexander moved to Bulgaria to pursue journalism and photo-journalism. This would be the starting point of a new phase in his photography exploration that continues to this day. "When I first came to Bulgaria I was amused by this often neglected but emblematic country. Living here and experiencing Bulgaria first-hand has helped me to see beyond the surface and visually capture the real Bulgaria. I record life as it’s presented to me and it is a never-ending discovering process." To date, Alexander has had a couple of exhibitions in Bulgaria, the first at the Balkansky Academic Center at the American University in Bulgaria - AUBG( 2010) and at Sofia Arsenal - Museum for Contemporary Art ( 2011) as part of the European Photography month. After a few years of good living, Alexander is back to explore some more. CURRENT EXHIBITIONS: ELEMENTS OF EXPERIENCE: Espace Port A, Sofia | 20-30 of June, 2026.
